The first edition of the Climate Solutions Festival in Quebec was an incredible success! With over 800 participants, the first of many events to come surpassed all expectations!
Thank you to everyone you came out for the 2-day event to support the ecosystem and the brilliant minds working towards innovative solutions to help save the planet!
Congratulations to the inaugural winners of the competitions! Their innovative ideas and commitment to tackling climate challenges deserve special recognition.
Power from waste heat: Bringing data centers and green hydrogen electrolyzers into the circular economy. Developing power generation systems to bring liquid- cooled data centres into the circular economy, by using their own waste heat to power their servers. Liquid cooling reduces infrastructure loads dramatically but, unless reused for heating purposes, the waste heat is still wasted.
Green Fuels=Sustainable Energy Storage
Reducing GHG emission and capture of carbon in order to
generate green fuel for sustainable energy storage by
using a novel electrochemical system. It can capture
biogas and convert to methanol, which can be further
used for energy generation.
The GHG is pumped into the device continuously, where
chemical reactions within a low direct current voltage
convert gas to a fuel (methanol). The fuel can be
redirected to another device e.g., DMFC (direct methanol
fuel cell) or stored
Real Milk, No Cows
Opalia is introducing a new era of dairy: functional,
delicious, and sustainable dairy made from mammary
cells.
Opalia’s technology is being developed for all dairy lovers
interested in having a more conscious and sustainable
diet without compromise.
Sustainable Batteries
Developing a new pseudocapacitive bafery to provide a
more sustainable and scalable alternative to LIBs. It
operates on the principle of quantization in nanocarbon,
also referred to as the solvated Coulomb blockade
mechanism.
Quantus developed a computational model to investigate
this phenomenon for nanocarbon solvated in electrolytes
(often found in bateries and ultracapacitors).
